1952 Chevrolet Pickup Copy
Owner: Rod Rich
This Chevrolet pickup is a seriously low and seriously cool custom.
It’s nicely faded Candy Apple paint is set off by period accessories, such as the visor, grille, safety star and Appleton spotlights. The repro bumpers add a touch of new brightwork to the otherwise late fifties patina.
Although the vehicle was originally modified and painted in the US, the new UK owner has added modifications of his own, with the help of a few friends.
The chassis is stock from the bulkhead back but the front has been treated to a new crossmember and scratch-built Mustang II-based IFS by Merv Barnett. The rear end came from an 80’s truck and was installed by Marco while at Namco for the truck’s previous owner.
Under the hood beats a brand new Chevrolet 350cu in smallblock V8 built by British American Engines. Fuel and air is mixed by a new Edelbrock 650 carb and the block is dressed with finned Edelbrock valve covers and a no-name air cleaner. The engine is backed up by a re-built Turbo 350 autobox. Merv Barnett and brother Nick fitted the whole shebang, with some help from other fellow Bristol rodders.
The interior is period-perfect and virtually stock, with new peddles and a Lokar swan’s neck shifter giving the modified game away. The truck has been treated to new lights, gauges and a complete re-wire by Zane Llewelyn at Zannetec.
Future plans call for a new interior, gold flake roof with satin navy blue body.
Me, I like it just the way it is but that’s what makes the hobby interesting. It’s each to their own.
